About Organic Beauty

Here you can find more information on the organic to natural standards our artisan brand works so hard to abide by. Not only do we promise to deliver products free of harmful ingredients, but we are always learning more about ingredient and packaging innovations which help improve the products we are able to create for you and we work with established organizations to eliminate confusion in identifying organic to natural products with universally recognized verifications. Organic to Green is proudly working on getting COSMOS and EcoCert Certified.

COSMOS ORGANIC & ECO CERT

COSMOS stands for "COSMetic Organic and Natural Standard", which sets certification requirements for organic and natural cosmetics products in Europe. The standard is recognized globally by the cosmetic industry. This new standard imposes specific regulations that cover all aspects of the supply, manufacturing, production, marketing, and control of cosmetic products.

ECOCERT is an organic certification organization, founded in France in 1991. It is based in Europe but conducts inspections in over 80 countries, making it one of the largest organic certification organizations in the world. The ECOCERT standard was designed to inspect the ingredients, the manufacturing process and the packaging of cosmetic products, to ensure the compliance of raw materials, formulas, as well as the packaging used. Only environmentally friendly and “green chemistry” products are suitable for approval and accredited by ECOCERT. The organization strives to promote the use of renewable resource ingredients and environmentally sound production and manufacturing processes.

The guiding principles of the COSMOS® referential are:

  • to promote the use of products from organic farming and to respect biodiversity
  • to promote using natural resources responsibly while respecting the environment
  • to promote the use of clean manufacturing processes that respect human health and the environment
  • to promote the integration and development of the concept of “Green Chemistry”
  • to ensure transparency for all consumers

USDA ORGANIC

Organic certification requires that farmers and handlers document their processes and get inspected every year. Organic on-site inspections account for every component of the operation, including, but not limited to, seed sources, soil conditions, crop health, weed and pest management, water systems, inputs, contamination and commingling risks and prevention, and record-keeping. Tracing organic products from start to finish is part of the USDA organic promise.

To be USDA Organic the products must have an ingredients list and the contents should be 95% or more certified organic, meaning free of synthetic additives like pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and dyes, and must not be processed using industrial solvents, irradiation, or genetic engineering.
